Emotional Dysregulation with KST and Laser Therapy
Emotional dysregulation refers to difficulty managing and responding to emotions in a balanced way. From a medical and neurological perspective, it is closely tied to how the brain and nervous system communicate- particularly between emotional centers of the brain and the autonomic nervous system which controls stress and relaxation responses. When the body becomes stuck in a heightened (fight-or-flight) state, it can lead to anxiety, irritability, overwhelm, and difficulty calming down.
Using Koren Specific Technique (KST), we focus on identifying and correcting imbalances within the nervous system that may be contributing to emotional dysregulation. We commonly find tension and misalignments in the upper cervical spine (neck) and cranial bones, along with patterns of nervous system overload and disrupted brain-body communication. By restoring alignment and reducing interference, KST helps the body shift into a more regulated and adaptable state.
In addition to KST, we use advanced laser therapy to support regulation of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. One key way we do this is by targeting the Vagus Nerve- a major pathway of the parasympathetic system responsible for calming the body, regulating heart rate and breathing, supporting digestion, and promoting emotional stability. By applying laser therapy along the Vagus Nerve pathway, we help shift the body out of fight-or-flight and into a state of rest, healing, and regulation.
The Vagus Nerve is often referred to as the body’s reset system. When functioning well, it allows the body to recover from stress efficiently and process emotions more effectively. Supporting vagal tone can lead to improved emotional stability, reduced anxiety, better sleep, and a greater sense of calm and resilience.
